Course Overview

The course addresses the importance of proper time management. In the modern world, there is no shortage of potential distractions and obstacles to one’s faith. The course provides a detailed explanation of the Islamic significance to both proper time management (including the need for and importance of relaxation / free time). Students will have the opportunity to share their individual goals and particular obstacles they see in the path of accomplishing those goals. Furthermore, students will also have the opportunity to begin developing concrete, achievable plans and structures for variable time lengths (e.g. one day, three months, one year, three years, etc.) and understand the best methods with which to ensure that plans lead into one another smoothly.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the value of scheduling one’s time (including free time)
  • Develop achievable/productive plans for lengths of time
  • Be able to outline and articulate goals
  • Know how to effectively communicate with others to achieve goals
  • Identify and avoid common planning pitfalls (e.g. going too broad)
  • Tailor plans to individual strengths and weaknesses
